You keep telling yourself the same thing after every shift.
I will train when I feel up to it. I will start meal prepping when work calms down. I will get serious when I am not this tired.
Brother, you have been saying that for two years. Maybe five. And where has it gotten you?
The feeling you are waiting for is not coming. Not after this shift. Not after this rotation. Not after the holidays. Motivation does not visit men who work 12 hours and sleep 6. It visits men who are already moving. And even then, it shows up late and leaves early.
Here is the part nobody tells you. You do not get motivated and then act. You act and then motivation shows up. Every single time. The first ten minutes of any workout feel like a punishment. By minute twenty you are locked in. By the end you are wondering why you ever hesitated.
That sequence never flips. Your brain will never hand you enthusiasm before the work. It only pays out after. So every evening you spend on the couch waiting to feel like training is an evening you already lost. The feeling was on the other side of starting the whole time.
"You will never feel like it. Do it anyway. That is the entire game."
Understand what waiting really is. Waiting feels safe. There is no failure in waiting. No risk. You cannot disappoint yourself on the couch the way you can under a barbell you have not touched in six months. So your brain sells you the wait as wisdom. Rest. Recovery. Being smart about it.
It is not wisdom. It is avoidance wearing a reasonable outfit. One rest day after a brutal shift is real. Three years of rest days is a decision you made without ever saying it out loud.
Men who work rotating shifts do not get clean slates. Your schedule will never line up perfectly. Your sleep will never be perfect. Your energy will never be perfect. If the plan only works on perfect days, the plan does not work.
Stop checking in with your feelings and start checking in with your triggers. A trigger is a fixed cue that starts the work with zero debate. Not a decision. A reflex.

Every week you wait costs you more than a workout. It costs you proof. Proof that you are the kind of man who does what he says. That proof compounds in both directions. Every skipped week makes the next skip easier. Every finished session makes the next start easier.
There are two men reading this right now. One closes the page and waits for a better Monday. The other puts his shoes by the door tonight before he sleeps. Same shift. Same fatigue. Different trigger.
YOUR MOVE.
